Waiting for a new little grandaughter to brighten our worlds is a very hard thing to do, but a pink and brown baby shower goes well in helping to make the time pass swiftly. I found the cutest pink elephant invitations on etsy and our shower theme was born. Shilo and I spent an afternoon making paper elephants for a couple of mobile's, a door sign, and Shilo made all of the toothpick cupcake toppers. It's so much fun to spend the afternoon with scissors, glue and pretty paper laying all over the room!
The morning before the shower, Shilo and I were leaving the house on our way to Brittany and Chris' to decorate and get some food supplies. Shilo checked Facebook before we left, then let me know that my sister, Susan, had posted that it was a beautiful morning for traveling; that she was on her way to Brittany's Baby Shower. Hmmm...Susan lives about 4 hours away. Maybe she was planning on coming to spend the night and had just not thought to tell me. Well, that'd be okay. Hmmmm....but it is a little curious. Guess I should give her a call.
Ring-Ring, "Hello?"
Me: "Hey, whatchya doing?"
Susan: "On our way to the baby shower. Jordan's driving and we're about an hour out."
Me: "Oh. You do know the shower's tomorrow, right?"
Susan: - a moment of silence. (If you knew my sister, you would know how unusual this is!) Then, "No. No. I wrote it on my calendar for Saturday!"
Jordon: (I can hear him in the background) "Doesn't mean it's right. What does your invitation say?"
((My mind is racing at this point. Did I write the wrong date on all those invitations?? Tell me it isn't so!)
Susan: sheepishly and quietly- "It says the 20th"
Me: "Thank God!"
Susan and my nephew Jordan got the pleasure of helping us clean and decorate. Unfortunately, they had to get back to Echo as they hadn't made arrangements for anybody else to feed all the critters that live at their place. We appreciated the help, but were sorry that they couldn't join in all the other festivities!
~Sweet pink elephants were everywhere~
"Baby mine, don't you cry
Baby mine, dry your eyes
Rest your head
Close to my heart -
Never to part
Baby of mine"
"Little one, when you play
Don't you mind what they say~
Let those eyes sparkle and shine
Never a tear,
Baby of mine"
"If they knew sweet little you-
They'd end up loving you too
All those same people who scold you
Oh what they'd give just to hold you."
"From your head down to your toes
Your not much, goodness knows
But your so precious to me
Sweet as can be~
Baby of mine."
Brittany got such cute outfits. Mazzy Kaye is going to be the best dressed little girl in the neighborhood!
All little men who have a baby sister on the way need a flashing "I'm the Big Brother" button. One of the gals Brittany works with brought it and it was one of the most loved gifts of the day.
How cute is this?? Thanks Auntie Susan~
The elephant on the invitations were so cute that I just had to carry that over to the felted diaper bag I made for little Mazzy Kaye. Now, if she would just stop being stubborn and come on out...Grandma wants to hold her.
"Baby mine, close your eyes"
