Joy...

I saw a quote the other day, although I can't remember where. It went something like this:
"Joy is always looking for us."
It made me stop and think about what little joys are always finding me. Here is a short list of things that make me grin, in no particular order ~

1) Peppermint tea

2) A cozy blanket and a good book

3) The smell of rain.

4) The sound of our cuckoo clock.

5) Warm sand between my toes.

6) Measuring and mixing for some yummy baked goods.

7) The smell of playdough.

8) Yarn.

9) Pumpkins.

10) Pigs!

What are some of the simple joys that find you?

There's a book I have that you would just LOVE... 10,000 Things To Be Happy About. It's been around for a while, but it's a gem! I love this post Paula!

The UPS man bringing me a huge box today straight from Moda! Oh yeah... that's joy x 1,000,000!

Being splashed with cool air as you enter Safeway on a hot day (speaking from a distant memory of course).

Sprinklers.

Campfires.

Fresh sheets.

Being outside, gardening or just appreciating nature... sounds so sappy but true!

also, Netflix... I'm so addicted!

The smell of playdough is a good one.

For me: Fireflies. Soft, cool, flowery sheets on a hot summery night. Jack's silly sounds; snorting, laughing, growling, etc.

Joy seems to wear so many faces for me. There are the obvious things such as family, friends, sunny days, warmth waiting for you on cold days.. on and on. For me, the other "faces" are so elusive...it's just a second or two of being "pinged" by something, that unexpected hit that just says, "look and listen, Ellen!"..the tiny Ahas of life. Aren't we blessed to have them? I also think that honoring Joy is a form of giving thanks to all that life has bestowed upon us.
Whew! Enough, Ellen..calm down!
It is a good question. Thanks.

Visiting your blog is a joy...growing my corn/pumpkin/melon patch is a joy, the pumpkins and melons and corn that will be picked and used is a joy, prairie night skies full of stars...
