Window Shopping in Astoria

Today's a good day to go window shopping in downtown Astoria, looking at all the fun Christmas displays. Want to come along? Put on your rain gear and boots. It's a perfect November day, rainy and foggy. Just right for splashing through some puddles on our way. Ready?

Giant snowflakes at Lunar Boy Gallery wish us a Merry Christmas season.

Northwest Gourmet Goodies. Mmmmmm....I'm smelling some hot chocolate.

OH, Ambiance! Let's go in...

Magical~

Paramount Drug had the cutest display of chocolate colored penguins ~

The window at JCPenney's had me drooling over this gorgeous red wool coat ~ I could walk in a winter wonderland wearing that!

I hope you enjoyed your visit to downtown Astoria. Please come back soon ~

This was fun! I might try that here at home.
I like the red coat. I have one which I bought a few years ago. It seldom gets cold enough to wear it.
We're having rainy days, too.

Oh, Paula, thanks so much for taking me window shopping in Astoria. It brought so many memories. I could envision everything. I felt a bit weepy as I looked at the picture of the main street. It was as if I was back there again with my two-year-old son beside me. Nostalgia took over! Paramount Drug. J.C. Penneys. All of it! We loved to walk down one side of the street and back up the other to see every single window. But when we got close to J.C. Penneys my little son would balk and say (under his breath), 'Don't be afraid - it's not real - it's just a nice man dressed up in a red suit!' He was so frightened of anything that wasn't lifelike and the real Santa in the window of Penney's was more than he could handle so that was the only way I could calm him and get to walk by. He repeated those words every time he saw a real Santa and when his was born and grew to be a toddler he repeated them to her to help her 'get past' Santa. He was her reassurance that all was well with the world! Thank you so much for the walk down memory lane.

I woke the other morning to the story of the big fire in downtown Astoria and I knew exactly where it was.

Absolutely wonderful! I enjoyed it a lot. I love to window shop. Always have, always will.

And to go out on a day like you had, it's perfect [if it isn't too cold]. I LOVE fog. I think it's my favorite weather ever.

Thanks for showcasing all the glory of the season in Astoria. Wonderful. Nice meeting you.

Our weather today and yesterday could be a classic Oregon day.
Rainy, cold and foggy. One the East Coast. I hate it! I'm ready for Spring already.
I like to window shop this time of year, too.
Thanks for taking us along with you!

I loved how you captured downtown! We were driving through the other night on our way to Safeway, and even with the TV trucks dotting street in front of the burned building... it was still magical. We may have to take a window shopping walk tonight!

Paula,

I loved the tour and especially liked those cute little penguins.

The red coat is fine. My daughter had one very similar when she was 16 and she always said it was toasty warm. I hope Santa puts it under your tree on Christmas Eve.

We had snow this morning and it's raining now. I sure hope it doesn't freeze. The roads will be skating rinks if it does and hubby has to drive all night.

Take care and enjoy your evening.
Blessings,
Mary
