Charmed, I'm Sure...

Charm Packs. Oh the delight. I'm always just a little bit late to the ballgame, everyone else far ahead in their charm pack love. My sewing machine and I just recently had the pleasure of meeting our first little charm pack. It came to us through a delightful shop on etsy. That charm pack sat on the shelf in my craft room for a month or so. I looked at it, it looked at me, together we just didn't know what to do with each other, though we were enjoying the company. Then, one day, as these things so often happen, I was visiting one of my favorite knitting blogs, the oh-so-creative Lynne at I Was Knit Together In My Mother's Womb, when she happened to mention the Cape May Bag and all it's charms~(pun intended). I hoped right over to Knotions and grabbed that pattern for myself, and my charm pack of course. I believe it was fate, a love affair had begun.

I would like you to meet my very first charm pack - Summer's Basket of Flowers by Terry Clothier Thompson for Moda. This charm pack was so delightful that I just may be a charm pack junkie now. Are there groups for that? CPAnonymous maybe? Actually, at my house, I'm going to call them Party Packs 'cause there's a party in every little wonderful bundle. I may even have to wear pointy paper hats and blow party horns while I'm sewing from now on.

Before the knitted top meets the sewn bag.

Wa-La! Though someone should probably tell Cape May that it's dangerous to hang out in the road like that.
I hope you enjoyed meeting Cape May. I, for one, was charmed...

Looks really cute, Paula! How do you do the knitted part though?
I went to a yard sale this morning -after my good friend and neighbor, Shirley, phoned me last night to tell me what her sister-in-law was doing at the yard sale she and her other sister, my good friend Kate, go together every year and have a joint yard sale at their sister-in-law, Linda's house. Linda, like Kate and Shirley, has always been a crafter -delving mainly in counted cross stitch. But her health is such now that she can no longer do the close work of needle arts so she was putting ALL her kits and booklets too out for a mere l0 Cents each!!! Can you believe that? I came home with 21 kits plus 21 or 22 booklets -Precious moments stuff but all kinds of leaflets with counted cross stitch patterns and about 8--10 pieces of Aida cloth as well! Little kits, larger kits and even a table runner that is regular stamped embroidery plus I got a Christmas plate, a cute bath towel, a really pretty floral vinyl tablecloth and even a "wireless" keyboard and mouse -all for a mere $8.00! Pinch me, please!
I told Mandy with all those little counted cross stitch kits -mostly tree ornaments -I can try to teach her the basics of cross stitching and she won't have to worry if something gets mucked up since it only cost 10 cents for her to play around with it. Now, here's hoping she goes along with that program, huh?

Really cute Cape May bag. I too was inspired by Lynne's bag. I am still trying to decide on a charm pack or try to do it myself. Picking out the different prints that is. Is on-line the only place to get charm packs? I can't seem to find them at my local fabric stores.

I have never bought a charm pack but you have peaked my interest. I usually buy the sampler of fat quarters. The charm pack looks like a good gift for the Princess. I told her I would cut her some squares to sew together after the sewing lesson and I have not done so. She could sew these together and when it was lap size, we could sandwich it and she could quilt it. The Quilter's Connection is one place I like to browse so I'll maybe buy a charm pack from them soon.

Moda charm packs are little hits of fabric crack. One little 5'' piece is all it takes to get addicted to those darling little suckers. If you find a CPAnon... I'll go with you. But you can't count on me to be your sponsor. In fact, I'll lead you astray to a quilt shop on the way to CPAnon to go buy more charm packs. And I think we should have breakfast first (with the men folk too). Maybe this weekend if you guys are free?

I love your bag, love your photos for the bag, love that your neighbors probably watched you set the chair in the middle of the street.
