A year after deciding that I could, quite possibly, make myself a blouse and purchasing the pattern, it has finally come to fruition. Yes, I did it and no, it was not hard at all. Yeah Me! My very first sewn clothing item that can be worn in public - wahoo! I don't know why I put it off so long, thinking that it would be "sew" hard and I couldn't possibly make it turn out right. I did and it actually fits really nice, have already worn it to work. No one could be more surprised than I am. And delighted.
Chatting with my sister this morning, we were chuckling about the fact that we want to try it all (and have for the most part) - knitting, sewing, crocheting, painting, quilting, photography, cross-stitch. You name it, we've dabbled in it. Which means that we, especially me, can do a bit of it all but excel at none of it. But that's okay because it all makes us happy.
How about you? Are you a dabbler or a master?

Great job on your top. Love the material. I used to make my own clothes as well as my daughter's. She was not a happy camper when my work life got so busy I traded sewing for crocheting and knitting. Then added counted cross stitch...and when I retired and had more time for that, I took up painting...and THAT has become my passion. :)

So now my daughter has all my counted cross stitch stuff...and she does it far better than I.

I'm a dabbler. Master at nothing. I kinda like it that way.
Means we're versitile. This is a good thing.

I am definitely a dabbler... and master of none....

you did a very good job on your top...enjoy wearing it knowing that it was made with loving hands (your own)

Good for you! I used to make my own clothes and sew for the children when they were small.
Yes, I'm a dabbler. In my studio, there is supplies for: jewelry making, crochet, cross stitch, scrap booking, stamping, quilting,
watercolor, etc. It is fun to try different things And its healthy to learn new things. I like what you said about it making you happy. I have friends who do none of that stuff. They say they are not crafty and they don't enjoy reading. They are often depressed and unhappy. There is so much to do and so little time. As Frost said: I have promises to keep and miles to go before I sleep.

I am most certainly a dabbler of the highest order too! I dabble in sewing, knitting, crochet and embroidery -once in a while I even sit down and try to stumble through a couple songs on the organ but my fingers are stiff, vision is crappy and I was never a very good pianist/organist to begin with soooo. I am a master at none of these tings. I just keep plodding along though, in hopes that the old adage, "Practice makes perfect" will someday actually apply to something I dabble with.

Yup, dabbler here too. The first really crafty thing I made was a crochet poncho for my then 4 yr old daughter - in the early 70's! I bead, sew, knit, crochet, limited paper crafts and whatever strikes me at the moment.

I have so many project lists, I will never die!!

Thank you for your nice comments on my knitted dishcloths. They are so soothing to knit as my mind wanders and relaxes.

I am definatly a dabbler. I get bored with the same thing & always want to try something new.

Wow! Awesome job on that! I've made a couple of things to wear, too... and even though they were far from perfect, I was kinda proud of myself for actually finishing them!
I am definitely a dabbler... although there are a few things I feel I'm better at than others- I no where near a master! LOL
