Photo of the Day
I'm so excited! I had a flickr email from KMUN radio that my picture A Storm Moving In is going to be featured on their website as the picture of the day tomorrow, October 13th. I've had a couple others featured in the past, but haven't been quick enough reading my email to be able to see them on their site the correct day.
This picture was taken last December in a little coastal town called Wheeler. It's a tiny little place, absolutely gorgeous, that Riff and I like to stop at whenever we head down the coast. They have great antique shops and a fabulous fabric shop. When we first moved to the coast, we went down for their annual crab feed. Mmmm.... I'm thinking that Wheeler would make a great Small Town America post one of these days...
UPDATE::: My Dad just told me that my great-grandma Coleman lived in Wheeler as a young woman. They lived in a tent with a dirt floor. Brrr...must have been chilly!
I never knew Grandma Coleman but do remember stories of her sweeping her dirt floor until it was polished and shiny. She was quite the woman.

oh paula what a beautiful picture and how lucky to know ahead of time!!
We have been to wheeler a few times as well as the crab feed. I love the antique stores and the fabric store there!!!! I know i had a few old things from one or both of the antique shops side by side that i lost in the fire.
We hope to take another trips down 101 and stop again.
Congrats to you on the photo of the day award -and well deserved it is too as you do put some great pics up here!
Any town that has a cool fabric shop is A-ok in my book! Mandy and I were over in State College last night -to pick up our two bargain-basement priced tv sets and stopped in the Joann Fabric store so I could get more floss to begin my next embroidery project. While at the fabric store, looking at some corduroy that was on sale, I was wondering when we left if they might have to put that corduroy on sale as an "as is" type thing because I think I drooled all over it! So pretty, so soft and nice and I could envision some really cute little jumper for Maya with some of it! Didn't get any though but I did get three yards of a really nice blue corduroy at Walmart -3 yards there at $2.97 a yard vs almost $6 a yard, on sale at Joanne Fabics, too good to pass up plus, Mandy had picked up a darling little blue and white floral knit shirt for Maya that will go perfectly with the blue corduroy! A win-win situation then, huh?
Congratulations, Paula. Isn't it fun to see that your work is appreciated by others? I love to go to Wheeler and you captured the Oregon Coast winter weather perfectly. ~Adrienne~

I have been through your state several times with my husband (at that time he was a long-haul truck driver). It is one beautiful state. Someday I would like to come back (by car) and take time to see much more of it, it is impossible to get to see a state in a big truck, they just don't have parking for those big trucks and they aren't allowed in a lot of places. Congratulations on you picture.
Congrats to you!! It is an amazing picture for sure!
